Being from Southern California, Mexican food is a staple for weeknight dinners at my house. However, I do like to go out sometimes for a big margarita and the perfect basket of tortilla chips. Check out one of my local favorites...Guapo's!

I know this may not look like much, but trust me you NEED to order it! The Tamal de Elote is a delicious corn cake baked in a corn husk on the appetizer menu. All I can say is YUM!
For the main dish I had the Tacos Oxaquennos (Wha cane yos). It is easier to pronounce than it looks.

These fluffy tortillas are hand made and you can watch them being prepared in the middle of the restaurant behind a low glass partition.
I was very happy at the end of this meal! That is saying a lot coming from me! I have high standards when it comes to Mexican food.
Guapo's is a chain and there are a few locations in the DMV. I went to the one at Fair Lakes in Fairfax. Click on the link below to check out their website for a complete listing.
